Envoy of the King of Saudi Arabia Meets President Jokowi

President Jokowi welcomed the envoy of King of Saudi Arabia, Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed Al Jubier, at the State Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (20/10) afternoon

The envoy of the King of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed Al Jubier meets President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), at the State Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (20/10) afternoon, in order to follow up of the two heads of state meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, last September.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, Retno Marsudi explained that the meeting between President Jokowi with the King of Saudi Arabia’s envoy mainly discusses cooperation in four areas that will be prioritized and will soon be implemented, namely the construction of refineries, the supply of crude oil, petrochemical, and construction of storage.

“There are some cooperation that also to be improved, but we focus on the four as I mentioned”, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia said, while mentioning, the meeting is also exploring the possibility of cooperation in the field of tourism and agriculture.

As a follow up of the Arab Foreign Minister’s visit, according to Retno, within a maximum of four weeks, teams from Indonesia, led by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said will make a reciprocal visit to Saudi Arabia to cooperate more concrete.

Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed Al Jubeir expressed, in his work visit to Indonesia, the delegation that he led brought leaders Aramco Oil Company Executives and the Representatives of the Agency for Public Investment Fund and Saudi Development Fund.

“We brought the CEO of Aramco, as well as the Representatives of the Public Investment Fund and Development Fund to seek the best ways to increase investment in Indonesia,” Adel said.

While the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said who accompanied President Jokowi in the meeting said, “As the person in charge of relations with the Middle East in the framework of the investment had been talk in more detail. Within a month from now we should realize something, so that other areas could be implemented”.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources also said that during the meeting, the team of Aramco Saudi discuss with Pertamina to immediately realize the things that had been initiated.

Accompanying President Jokowi in the meeting, among others, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno Marsudi; Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Sudirman Said; and the Head of BKPM, Franky Sibarani.
