Farewell-Welcome Ceremony for Indonesia’s President from Jokowi to Prabowo Subianto
The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Sunday (10/20) welcomed President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace within the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta.
The welcoming ceremony took place following the inauguration of Prabowo Subianto as the 8th President of the Republic of Indonesia and Gibran Rakabuming Raka as the 14th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Jakarta.
Jokowi was the first to arrive at the Merdeka Palace at around 12:40 PM Western Indonesia Time and appeared to no longer use the vehicle with the license plate Indonesia-1.
President Subianto and Vice President Rakabuming Raka arrived at 1:35 PM Western Indonesia Time at the Merdeka Palace, Central Jakarta, using the Maung Garuda tactical vehicle developed by Indonesian youth.
Following this, former President Jokowi, accompanied by Ibu Iriana Jokowi and several ministers from the previous Indonesia Onward Cabinet warmly welcomed the arrival of President Subianto and Vice President Rakabuming Raka.
The ceremony commenced with the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) troops entering the field, accompanied by a marching band playing a nationalist song “Maju Tak Gentar” (Striding Forward), followed by personnel of the Presidential Security Detail (Paspampres) carrying the Red and White flag.
President Subianto along with Joko Widodo and Ibu Iriana Jokowi attended the welcoming ceremony for the 8th President and the farewell for the 7th President. It concluded with the singing of the national anthem “Indonesia Raya”. Afterwards, President Subianto and Jokowi inspected the neatly lined-up troops in front of the Merdeka Palace.
Following the ceremony, President Subianto accompanied former President Jokowi and Ibu Iriana Jokowi to Halim Perdana Kusuma Air Base for their journey to Solo, Central Java. They took off for Solo aboard an Indonesian Air Force aircraft.
President Subianto returned to the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta to welcome several state guests and was scheduled to continue with the Gala Dinner agenda planned for that evening. (KS/ABD) (RIF/EP)
