Indonesian fighter jets escorted Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s aircraft into the country’s airspace, while students waving Indonesian and Egyptian flags lined his arrival route in Jakarta on Saturday (10/10). The warm reception marked the start of President El-Sisi’s state visit to Indonesia.

The aircraft carrying President El-Sisi and his delegation landed at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta at approximately 17:25 Western Indonesian Time. The welcome, however, began well before the presidential aircraft touched down.

Upon entering Indonesian airspace, the aircraft carrying President El-Sisi was escorted by Indonesian Air Force fighter jets, including two Sukhoi Su-30s and two Sukhoi Su-27s, with two F-16s providing additional escort support. The aerial escort was part of Indonesia’s tribute to the leader of a friendly nation on a state visit.

The ceremonial welcome continued with an Indonesian Air Force flypast as the presidential aircraft arrived at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, adding to the honors extended to the visiting head of state.

On the ground, students gathered near Halim Perdanakusuma Airport to welcome President El-Sisi, waving the flags of Indonesia and Egypt as his motorcade passed by. Their enthusiastic reception added a festive touch to the occasion.

From the fighter jet escort overhead to the flags waving along the arrival route, the welcome for President El-Sisi reflected Indonesia’s respect for the friendship between the two countries. The state visit also marked an important moment in Indonesia–Egypt bilateral relations. (BPMI) (FI/AW)
