First Lady, OASE KIM Encourage Community to Compost Waste
First Lady Ibu Iriana Jokowi and members of Solidarity Act Organization of the Onward Indonesia Cabinet Era (OASE KIM) Tuesday (09/19) encouraged the community to compost household organic waste.
Iriana underscored that composting is important and a way of implementing low waste lifestyle.
“[this activity] is a part of creating waste minimum lifestyle to keep Indonesia clean and beautiful just like all ladies here,” the First Lady said during a joint composting activity with several representatives of Family Welfare Movement (PKK), Regional Crafts Council (Dekranasda), and environmental activists of Special Region of Yogyakarta in front of Sono Art Building, Yogyakarta Presidential Palace, Yogyakarta.
On this occasion, she also gave several questions to ladies joining the activity. She asked regarding household waste types that can be used as compost.
“Correct, vegetables, fruits, and food waste which has been cleaned,” the First Lady said when she repeated the answer from the audience.
Afterwards, the First Lady and members of OASE KIM planted Burahol tree (Stelechocarpus burahol) at Park of Sono Art Building. In addition, they also gave 1,000 mango tree seedlings to Special Region of Yogyakarta. (Bureau of Press, Media, and Information of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (SS/RAS)
