Flood-affected Civil Servants May Apply for ‘Important Reason’ Leave: BKN
The National Civil Service Agency (BKN) has announced that civil servants who were affected by the massive floods on Thursday (2/1) and were then unable to work may apply for “important reasons leave”.
“For #sobatBKN who are civil servants and are also affected by floods, you may apply for “important reason leave” in accordance with BKN Regulation Number 24 of 2017 on Procedures for Granting Civil Servants Leave,” read BKN tweets uploaded some time ago.
Under the regulation, in the event that civil servants experience house fires or natural disasters, they may be granted leave for important reasons by enclosing a statement at least from the Neighborhood Association (RT) Head. The leave is determined by the Authorized Official with a maximum of 1 (one) month.
Massive floods inundated the capital and its satellite cities following heavy downpour that began in the afternoon on New Year’s Eve. As a result, several public facilities were paralyzed, roads were cut off, houses and cars belonging to residents were submerged.
The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) reports that as of Thursday (2/1) morning, the floods have claimed 16 lives, among others, 8 in Jakarta, 1 in Bekasi, 3 in Depok City, 1 in Bogor City, 1 in Bogor Regency, 1 in Tangerang City, and 1 in South Tangerang.
“The BNPB continues to collect data from various sources and the number of victims may continue to rise,” said Head of the BNPB Data, Information and Public Relations Center Agus Wibowo in his press release on Thursday (2/1). (BNPB PR/ES)
