President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, accompanied by First Lady Ibu Iriana, on Saturday (2/3) paid an impromptu visit (known as blusukan) to Kendari City Central Market in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi province.

The President has long been known for the signature blusukan style in the middle of his tight schedule to directly meet the people.

The President visited several stalls including those selling clothes, school supplies, toys, rice, vegetables, and fruits to check the prices. “Prices of several food commodities are relatively stable,” he said.

First Lady Ibu Iriana bought a toy for their second granddaughter, Sedah Mirah.

President Jokowi also expressed appreciation for the enthusiasm Southeast Sulawesi people had shown during his visits in Kendari. “I have not visited the province for a while,” he said.  (EN/RAH/ES)
