Tourists are seen at the location where Sail Karimata takes place, located in North Kayong

Since few days ago, a number of foreign tourists were seen in the location where Sail Karimata 2016 takes place, namely Sukanda, North Kayong, West Kalimantan. As waiting for the peak event to be held on Saturday (15/10), the tourists visited the stands in regional potentials exhibition which was held in Pulau Datuk Beach, Sukanda, North Kayong Regency, West Kalimantan.

The exhibition held on Wednesday (12/10) to Saturday (15/10) involved 120 participants from various Ministries/Institutions, regional governments, as well as from private and state-owned enterprises.

Asmawi, a tour guide who escorts several tourists said that they reached the location on yacht which sailed from Pulau Datuk Beach. “There were about 15 yachts carrying 30 foreign tourists,” he added.

During their visit in Kayong, the tourists, Asmawi explained, have visited Pasir Mayang Beach, Tambak Rawan Beach, and Sudahan Jaya Tourism Village. In Sudahan Jaya Tourism Village, the tourists witnessed the activities of the locals in producing palm sugar, and they were entertained with Malayan and Balinese Dances in Kampong Bali, as well as tasting local delicacies,” Asmawi said. Moreover, they also witnessed the dragon boat competition which was held in Pulau Datok Beach.

According to Asmawi, the tourists, in Regional Potentials Exhibition of the 2016 Sail Karimata, were mostly interested in etnical products from several regions in Indonesia, particularly regions in West Kalimantan.
