Former Jakarta Governor Under Selection Process for Top SoE Post: President Jokowi

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has confirmed that former Governor of Special Capital Region of Jakarta Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, known as Ahok, has been nominated to fill a strategic position in one of state-owned enterprises.

“On the placement, it is still under a selection process at Ministry of SOEs,” President Jokowi told reporters after attending the Handover of Budget Execution Documents (DIPA) and Register Book for Allocation of Transfer to Regions and Village Funds in 2020, at the State Palace, Jakarta, Thursday (14/11).

Ahok, President Jokowi said, has an opportunity to lead an SoE.

“We know his performance. The selection process is still ongoing,” the President stated.

According to President Jokowi, Ahok may lead as a chief commissioner or an executive director.

“He may serve as one of them, but the selection process is in progress,” the President added.

On the possibility for Ahok to lead an energy SoE, the President stated that it is within the domain of Ministry of State-owned Enterprises. (HIM/RAH/ES)
