Formula E circuit in Ancol, North Jakarta, is ready to organize an electric car racing event in June, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has announced.

“I came here to inspect the preparation of Formula E. I think the race track is ready,” the President said after observing the development of the circuit construction project, Monday (04/25).

The President expressed hope that the construction of the circuit could run according to the predetermined schedule.

“The paddock and the grand stand area need to be finished immediately. There is still time after Eid Al-Fitr and we hope that in early June we will be able to see the project completed,” he said.

Meanwhile, Governor of Capital Jakarta Anies Baswedan stated that the construction of the Formula E race track was 100 percent complete, adding that the current work is to finish the construction of facilities and infrastructure to support the event.

“The construction of the paddock, the grand stand, and the fence as well as the holding area for guests are currently underway. Later, above these concretes a fence will be installed. In general, the track is 100 percent complete,” said Anies.

For the record, the Formula E circuit has a track length of 2.4 kilometers and a width of 12 kilometers. The circuit has a slope in some corners that allow racers to have a higher speed.

“According to the Formula E Operations, this is a very interesting track. The construction project only took two months and will break the country’s record as the fastest track that we have ever built,” said Vice Managing Director of Jakarta EPrix 2022 Organization Committee Gunung Kartiko.
