Four Indonesian citizens on Diamond Princess cruise ship who have tested positive for coronavirus are receiving treatment in accordance with the World Health Organization (WHO) health protocol, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has said.

“(The patients) have been transferred to hospitals in Japan. The Indonesian Embassy and Ministry of Foreign Affairs closely monitor the situation,” the President told the reporters after attending the National Coordination Meeting on Investment at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Jakarta, Thursday (20/2).

The President went on to say that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continuously communicates with the cruise ship company and the Japanese Government regarding the 74 Indonesian citizens left on the cruise ship.

“We are committed to ensuring that they get treatment in accordance with the standardized health protocol that has been issued by the WHO,” the President said.

For the record, Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi has said that she would continue to monitor the condition of Indonesian citizens on the Princess Diamond cruise ship and would coordinate with government authorities in Japan. (FID/EN)
