The atmosphere around the Merdeka Palace was different this morning. Jakarta was loaded up with a spirit of national pride. President Prabowo Subianto departed for the National Monument (Monas) Park to attend the commemoration ceremony of the 80th Anniversary of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI), on Sunday (10/5).

Wearing a black peci (cap) and khaki shirt, President Prabowo rode in a domestically manufactured Maung tactical vehicle. Not far behind, another Maung rode, carrying Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin and TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto.

Meanwhile, another Maung rode along, carrying the Deputy TNI Commander along with the Chiefs of Staff. This sight emphasized the unity of the nation’s defense forces during this special moment.

President Prabowo’s cavalcade also appeared majestic and symbolic. Eighty horses and eighty patrol motorcycles formed a procession that filled the road from the Merdeka Palace to Monas—a number that coincided with the TNI’s anniversary this year. The galloping of horses and the roar of motorcycle engines combined to create a majestic rhythm that evoked a sense of pride.

Along the way to Monas, the crowd was enthusiastic. People of all ages crowded the sidewalks, waving, and capturing the moment. Little children cheered happily as they saw the President’s Maung vehicle pass by, while parents smiled proudly, witnessing this symbol of the leader’s closeness to his people.

President Prabowo stood and waved from the top of Maung. He greeted the crowd filling the streets. His warm smile and gestures enlivened the atmosphere, reflecting the character of a leader who is close to his people.

The journey from the Merdeka Palace to Monas was more than just a protocol procession. It served as a symbol of respect for the TNI’s 80 years of service to the nation. The combination of the nation’s tactical vehicles, the stately horses, and the welcoming crowd reflected the spirit of unity among the leaders, soldiers, and the Indonesian people.  (BPMI of the Presidential Secretariat) (JAS/MMB)
