Garuda Indonesia Group Reduces Flight Tariff

Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi praised a Flag Carrier Garuda Indonesia Group for reducing airplane ticket prices for all routes by 20%.

“I appreciate Garuda for lowering its tariff, in line with the agreement of INACA (Indonesia National Air Carriers Association) to provide an affordable (flight) price,” Budi said in Jakarta, Thursday (14/2).

Budi went on to say that Garuda Indonesia Group is a market leader in national airline industry. He also expressed hopes that Garuda’s decision can be followed by other airlines.

Previously, Garuda Indonesia CEO Ari Ashkara said in a press release that Garuda Indonesia, Sriwijaya Air, and Nam Air have reduced the tariff by 20%, starting on Thursday (14/2).

Ari said that air transportation services play an important role in supporting economic growth and the flight price reduction aims to boost national economy, especially tourism sector, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), as well as other national industries.

“The tariff reduction is part of a continuous commitment from Garuda Indonesia Group in providing quality flight services with competitive flight price,” Ari concluded. (Humas Kemenhub/ES)
