President Prabowo Subianto has reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to major budget efficiency measures, strengthening clean governance, and promoting sustainable national development.
The President delivered the statement at the Indonesia Economic Outlook 2026, held at the Auditorium of Wisma Danantara Indonesia, Jakarta, Friday (02/13).
According to the President, in the first year of his administration, the Government successfully saved more than Rp300 trillion from the State Budget. These efficiency were redirected to support productive programs, including the Free Nutritious Meals program.
“In fiscal policy, I have proven that we can implement massive efficiency and savings. In the first year of my administration, we saved more than Rp300 trillion from the State Budget,” he said.
The President also noted that savings were done by cutting off non-productive expenditures, such as overseas official trips, ceremonial events, seminars, and excessive studies, adding that these measures enable the Government to prioritize fulfilling the basic needs of the people and accelerating infrastructure development.
“No need for more studies and analysis. It is already too many. We already know the problems. Infrastructure shortages? Build them. Villages need bridges? Construct them. People are hungry, then provide food for them. No need for excessive analysis,” he said.
The Head of State also highlighted the need to stop budget leakages and enhance state asset management performance. He also praised Danantara’s performance, which in less than one year, has achieved efficiency and reform four times higher than in 2024.
“I received a preliminary report that Danantara’s efficiency and reform measures have yielded fourfold results compared to 2024. This is extraordinary, but it must still be carried on continuously,” he said.
The Government, the President added, has also set a target for return on assets above 8 percent.
“You set 7 percent, but I set 8 percent. I’m raising it. It must exceed 8 percent. Ministers, can you do it? Be ready. Trust me and you’ll be surprised yourselves,” he added.
On that occasion, the President also reiterated his determination to eradicate corruption across all levels of government and business, stressing zero tolerance for law enforcement while upholding justice.
“Corruption is still too rampant. We must eradicate corruption from Indonesia. All leakages, deviations, manipulations, at every level,” the President stressed.
“No compromises. We must enforce the law properly, but there must be no miscarriage of justice,” he continued.
The national economic development strategy does not rely solely on growth but also on clean, efficient, and integrity-based governance reforms as the foundation for Indonesia’s quest to become an advanced nation. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (EST/EP)
