President Prabowo Subianto Thursday (03/05) held a gathering with kiai (Islamic scholar) and leaders of Islamic community organizations at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta.

The meeting served as a forum for dialogue and the exchange of views between the Government and religious leaders on a range of strategic issues, both domestic and global.

“The meeting was intended to foster mutual understanding and to hear directly about the recent developments in geopolitical and geoeconomic dynamics,” Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly Ahmad Muzani said in a press statement.

In the meantime, Head of the Al-Bahjah Islamic Boarding School K.H. Yahya Zainul Ma’arif, popularly known as Buya Yahya, stated that during the meeting President Prabowo Subianto outlined various situations and challenges currently facing the nation.

The President, he added, also openly received and took note of the views of the kiai and ulama as part of a collective effort to build the nation.

“The President elaborated at length the challenges facing this country, and emphasized that this nation will remain secure if we continue to uphold togetherness and unity,” Buya Yahya said.

The meeting, which lasted approximately three hours, served as a forum to strengthen synergy between the Government and the ulama.

The caretaker of the Bahrul Ulum Islamic Boarding School in Tambakberas, Jombang, K.H. Hasib Wahab Hasbullah, expressed optimism that this collaborative forum would help guide Indonesia toward a better future.
