Government Announces Recipients of Service and Honorary Medals

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto announced the recipients of service and honorary medal which will be bestowed by President Joko Widodo, during the press conference on Monday (12/08) at Garuda Palace, Nusantara Capital, North Penajam Paser regency, East Kalimantan province

Ahead the 79th commemoration of the Indonesia’s Independence Day, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto announced the recipients of Service and Honorary Medals which will be given by President Joko Widodo. The announcement was delivered during the press conference on Monday (12/08), at Garuda Palace, Nusantara Capital (IKN), North Penajam Paser Utara regency, East Kalimantan province.

As the Head of the Service and Honorary Titles and Medals Council (GTK Council), he further explained that the session of GTK Council had carried out the selection of national figures proposed by ministries, agencies, and institutions. The figures were assessed by fulfilling terms and conditions as the recipients of the medals based on the statutory provisions.

“The recipients of the service and honorary medal are ministers, vice ministers, and other high rank officials for their service to the nation during the administration of President Joko Widodo on Working Cabinet 2014-2019 and Indonesia Onward Cabinet 2019-2024,” Hadi said.

61 recipients had been selected from various categories of orders, among others:

  • Pioneering Medal: 1 recipient
  • Honorary Medal of the Republic of Indonesia Star: 2 recipients
  • Honorary Medal of the Mahaputra Star: 39 recipients
  • Honorary Medal of the Jasa Star: 17 recipients
  • Honorary Medal of the Budaya Parama Dharma Star: 2 recipients

He also said that the medal recipients were coming from various backgrounds and positions. “Of 61 recipients were 23 ministers, 10 vice ministers, 9 high rank officials of the high state institutions, 7 high rank officials of the government institutions and non-ministries, 5 high rank officials of the military and police institutions, 5 professionals, and 2 cultural activists,” he added.

President Joko Widodo would bestow the service and honorary medals on the recipients including the heirs of the late recipients, on 14 August 2024 at the State Palace Jakarta. This event is part of the series of the 79th commemoration of the Indonesia’s Independence Day, as the State’s appreciation for the great contributions given by the national figures during the administration of President Joko Widodo.
