Government to Establish Lake Toba Authority Body

Government decided to make Lake Toba, in Samosir, North Sumatera, as a tourist destination with international standard. Hence, some improvements will be carried out in the near future.

“The first step is to create a legal protection. President asked to prepare an agency to manage it, whether it will be in the form of the Authority Body of Lake Toba or something else” said Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Pramono Anung after the meeting in the Presidential office, Jakarta, on Tuesday afternoon (2/2).

Seskab continued that government would seriously attract more foreign tourists, which number  reached about 10.4 million in 2015.

 “It was a great increase, around 10.3 percent. Hopefully in 2016, the number will increase to 12 million foreign tourists,” explained Pramono.

For Lake Toba, in 2019, the Government is preparing it to be one of the new destinations from the 10 alternatives of New “Bali”  .

“We hope that this could be carried out. Lake Toba will be developed into a natural attraction and geopark,” explained Mas Pram, a call for Pramono Anung. (FID/ES) (AJ/LW)
