Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya on Saturday (12/27) held a meeting with Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of Danantara Rosan Roeslani, Minister of Housing and Settlement Area Maruarar Sirait, and Head of State-owned Enterprises (BUMN) Dony Oskaria at Cabinet Secretary’s office.

The meeting discussed housing construction acceleration, both temporary and permanent, in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. The Cabinet Secretary mentioned that 15,000 housing units are under development by BUMN, which are expected to be finalized within three months.

“As many as 500 first units completed with clean water, sanitation, prayer houses, electricity, wi-fi network, and children’s facilities will be finished this week,” he said.

Ministry of Housing and Settlement Area has also started construction of permanent housing. “As many as 2,500 first units had started last week in the state-owned land area, and the other 2,500 will start next week,” said Cabinet Secretary.

There are also 4,500 temporary housing units across three disaster-affected provinces that are under development by National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).

Cabinet Secretary urged the regional government to actively participate in relocating the disaster-affected community to the provided area, as well as providing new housing locations.

“Both temporary and permanent housing built under certain criteria, including non-disaster-prone areas, accessible from their original residence, main roads, public facilities, and work areas,” he concluded. (HIM/UN) (RD/LW)
