President Prabowo called some Ministers of Red and White Cabinet to have a meeting at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (11/04). In his statement after the meeting, Minister of Investment and Downstream/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Rosan Roeslani confirmed the Government’s relentless commitment to develop national public transportation, including the fast train project.

“At the meeting with Mr. President, it was mentioned that train is a public transportation provided for the benefit of the people, therefore the Government should actively participate in transportation programs, including in Whoosh transportation system,” he said.

Related to discussion with Chinese companies on transportation project development cooperation, Rosan explained that the negotiation process is ongoing. The project development, according to Rosan, also includes a number of related ministries.

“The process is ongoing, and the team includes Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Affairs, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Minister of Finance, Minister of Transportation, and myself. So, this is an inter-ministry cooperation,” he explained.

Minister of Investment added that inter-ministry cooperation is very important to ensure that every step taken in negotiation and project implementation is in line with President Prabowo’s directives. The Government’s involvement in the transportation development, Rosan added, is not only considered through benefits and losses perspective, but also the impact for the people.

“Also, refering to the existing law, it is indeed the task of the Government,” he firmly stated. (Bureau of Press, Media, and Information of Presidential Secretariat) (AW/LW)
