President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Thursday (03/24) continued his working in East Nusa Tenggara province by inspecting the Stunting Reduction Program carried out by the National Population and Family Planning Board (BKKBN) in South Central Timor regency, East Nusa Tenggara province.

In his directives, President Jokowi said that the target of stunting prevalence in 2024 must reach below 14 percent.

“I will deliver the same thing that the target of 14 percent (stunting prevalence) must be achieved,” the President said.

On that occasion, President Jokowi also expressed gratitude to the BKKBN for its program related stunting reduction, adding that the program must be fostered including in terms of assistance for couples before marriage.

For couples, before marriage all must be prepared to prevent stunting, the President added.

The Head of State further added that the Government will implement intervention on child nutrition, residence condition, water supply and sanitation so that the target to reduce stunting prevalence can be achieved in 2024.

“Without good collaboration from regional/municipal governments, provincial governments, the Central Government, and all communities, I think that it is hard to reach the target we have set,” President Jokowi added.

President Jokowi further said that the program carried out by the BKKBN is expected to encourage related ministries/agencies in achieving the target of stunting prevalence reduction.  (FID/AIT/ST) (AP/HD/EP)
