Gov’t Annnounces 2027 National Holidays and Collective Leave Days

The Government has issued  Joint Decree of Minister of Religious Affairs, Minister of Manpower, and Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Number 1205 of 2026, Number 3 of 2026, and Number 2 of 2026 on National Holidays and Collective Leave Days for 2027.

The Joint Decree was issued to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of working days and to serve as a guideline for government agencies and private-sector entities in implementing national holidays and collective leave days in 2027.

Based on the Joint Decree, 2017 will have 18 national holidays and eight collective leave days.

The dates of 1 Ramadan 1448 Hijri, Eid al-Fitr 1448 Hijri, and Eid al-Adha 1448 Hijri, as stipulated in the Joint Decree, will be determined  by a decree of Minister of Religious Affairs.

The Joint Decree also requires work units, organizational units, institutions, and companies providing essential services at the central and regional levels to arrange employee assignments during the 2027 national holidays and collective leave days in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

This includes hospitals, community health centers, telecommunications, electricity and drinking-water providers, fire departments, public-security and public-order services, banks, transportation providers, and similar essential-service entities.

The implementation of collective leave as referred to in the Joint Decree will reduce employees’/workers’ annual leave entitlement in accordance with applicable laws and regulations and the provisions in force at each work unit, organizational unit, institution, or company.

Collective leave for state civil servants (ASN) shall be implemented in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations, while its implementation in private-sector entities shall be determined by the respective leaders of those entities.

“This Joint Decree shall take effect on the date of its issuance,” the decree states.

1. Friday, January 1, 2027: New Year’s Day 2027;
2. Tuesday, January 5, 2027: Isra and Mi’raj of Prophet Muhammad;
3. Saturday, February 6, 2027: Chinese New Year 2578 Kongzili;
4. Monday, March 8, 2027: Nyepi (Saka New Year 1949);
5. Wednesday–Thursday, March 10–11, 2027: Eid al-Fitr 1448 Hijri;
6. Friday, March 26, 2027: Good Friday (Commemoration of the Death of Jesus Christ);
7. Sunday, March 28, 2027: Easter (Resurrection of Jesus Christ);
8. Saturday, May 1, 2027: International Workers’ Day;
9. Thursday, May 6, 2027: Ascension of Jesus Christ;
10. Monday, May 17, 2027: Eid al-Adha 1448 Hijri;
11. Thursday, May 20, 2027: Vesak Day 2571 BE;
12. Tuesday, June 1, 2027: Pancasila Day;
13. Sunday, June 6, 2027: Islamic New Year 1449 Hijri;
14. Sunday, August 15, 2027: Birthday of the Prophet Muhammad (Mawlid);
15. Tuesday, August 17, 2027: Indonesian Independence Day;
16. Saturday, December 25, 2027: Christmas Day (Birth of Jesus Christ);
17. Sunday, December 26, 2027: Isra and Mi’raj of the Prophet Muhammad.

The 2027 collective leave days are as follows:

1. Friday, February 5: Chinese New Year 2578 Kongzili;
2. Tuesday, Friday and Monday, March 9, 12 and 15: Eid al-Fitr 1448 Hijri;
3. Thursday, March 25: Good Friday;
4. Tuesday, May 18: Eid al-Adha 1448 Hijri;
5. Wednesday, May 19: Vesak Day 2571 BE;
6. Friday, December 24: Christmas Day (Birth of Jesus Christ).
