Gov’t Announces Eid Festivity Allowances, Bonuses for Workers, Online Drivers

The government announced a policy regarding Eid festivities allowances (THR) and bonuses for employees from private companies, state-owned enterprises, and regional-owned enterprises. In a press statement at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta on Monday (03/10), President Prabowo Subianto stated that this policy is a form of the government concern for the welfare of workers at Eid-al Fitr 1446 Hijri.

President Prabowo emphasized that the government will deliver THR no later than seven days before Eid-al Fitr. The mechanism and further detailed information will be notified by Minister of Manpower.

“I advise that the THR for employees from private companies, state-owned enterprises, and regional-owned enterprises is given no later than seven days before Eid-al Fitr. The amount and mechanism will be announced by Minister of Manpower through a circular,” he added.

Not limited to workers in formal sectors, the government also paid special attention to online drivers and couriers as they have great contribution to support transportation and logistics services in Indonesia.

“Therefore, the government call on online transportation service companies to pay THR by cash for online drivers and couriers, considering the working hours,” the President stated.

Moreover, the Head of State added that currently there are 250 thousand active online drivers/couriers and 1 to 1.5 million part-time workers. He expressed hoped that this policy would benefit them, particularly during Eid-al Fitr celebration.

“I wish the workers and online drivers may experience holidays and mudik (annual Eid homecoming) also Eid-al Fitr in good conditions,” he added.

On that occasion, the President also expressed his appreciation to all parties that contributed to the policy, including ministries at the Red and White Cabinet and CEOs of online transportation service companies.

“I would like to thank Minister of Manpower, Minister of Transportation, Minister of State Secretary, Cabinet Secretary, also, to the CEOs, Mr. Patrick Walujo and Mr. Anthony Tan for their cooperation.
