Indonesian Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing on Monday (23/12) in Jakarta announced the “Nagara Rimba Nusa” city design as the winner of the design competition for ​​Indonesia’s new capital.

Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono said in his remarks that aside from being good in composition, the new capital must have distinguishing characteristics with all nations’ capitals in the world. He also said that the top three designs will be collaborated and adjusted as needed.

In the meantime, the Ministry’s Director General of Cipta Karya Danis Sumadilaga said that the new capital will not only be a symbol of national identity, but also a representation of national progress as well as the realization of equality and economic justice.

For the record, “The Infinite City” took the second spot, followed by “Seribu Galur” (a thousand threads) as the third winner. Furthermore, “Emerald Equator” and “Banua Rakyat Nusantara” designs received consolation prizes. (Twitter @Kementerian PUPR/ES)
