President Prabowo Subianto met with Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti to discuss several policies including the implementation of coding for schools and the evaluation of the zoning policy for new student admissions (PPDB).

“We presented some of our policies for coding learning as a curriculum or elective subject in schools, starting from elementary school —perhaps we will study whether it starts from grade 4 or so on —and it can be organized as part of elective subject matter in schools. Mr. President is very supportive of coding learning in schools,” Abdul Mu’ti said after the meeting at the Merdeka Palace, Tuesday (11/26).

On the zoning policy, the Minister said that President Prabowo ordered him to conduct a more in-depth study on the zoning implementation. The Minister said that the implementation of the zoning policy will be decided in a joint cabinet meeting with President Prabowo.

“We are continuously studying and deepening our understanding of the various weaknesses, so that hopefully in the 2025-2026 academic year, we will be able to implement a new zoning system based on the studies that we are continuously conducting, and the decision will be made in a cabinet meeting,” the Minister said.

On the occasion, the Minister also mentioned to President Prabowo the commemoration of National Teacher’s Day 2024. The event is scheduled to be held on November 28, 2024 at the Jakarta International Velodrome, Jakarta.

“We previously announced the President’s willingness to open and give directives at the National Teacher’s Day 2024 peak event under the theme: Great Teachers, Strong Indonesia,” he said. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/ABD) (FI/LW)
