Gov’t Begins Distribution of Government Rice Reserves for Food Assistance in 2023

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has begun the distribution of the Government rice reserves (CBP) for this year’s food assistance, at the Bulog’s Ngabeyan Distribution Center, Sukoharjo regency, Central Java province.

“By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, this afternoon I officially launch the distribution of  the Government rice reserves for food assistance in 2023,” the President stated.

According to the President, the Government will distribute 10 kilograms of rice assistance each month over the next three months to the beneficiary families.

“We will also immediately provide the assistance to 21.3 million families of several regencies/cities in Solo Raya,” he said.

On that occasion, the President expressed hope that the rice assistance will help people to fulfill their daily basic needs.

In addition, the assistance is also expected to help controling the rice prices in the market.

“With this food assistance, we hope it can also lower the price of rice,” he added.

The President also revealed that the availability of rice stocks in several regions of the country remained under control during the harvest season in a number of provinces, including West Java, Central Java, East Java, and South Sulawesi.

“We have no rice supply issues since it is still the harvest season,” he stressed.

To that end, the President said that the Government would continue to import rice as an anticipatory measure in dealing with El Nino.

“The rice import will still be carried out as a precaution for reserves and a strategy to prepare for El Nino weather phenomenon,” he remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (RIF/HD)
