Gov’t Builds 4 Border Posts in North Kalimantan
The Government is currently completing the construction of four Integrated Border Posts (PLBN) in North Kalimantan province in order to improve national competitiveness and support equitable development.
The four infrastructure projects are Long Nawang Border Post in Malinau regency and Long Midang Border Post, Labang Border Post, and Sei Pancang Border Post in Nunukan regency.
“The PLBN is not only an entry gate, but also the embryo of regional economic growth that can improve the welfare of border communities,” Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono said as quoted by the Ministry’s website, Monday (02/07).
The construction of Long Nawang Border Post started on September 3, 2020 with a development budget sourced from the State Budget worth Rp 225.3 billion. Currently, the progress of the construction has reached 33.49 percent and is targeted for completion on December 25, 2022.
The construction of Long Midang Border Post in Nunukan regency started on October 8, 2020. The infrastructure construction, which is planned to be completed on September 25, 2023, has reached 5.63 percent.
The construction of Labang Border Post in Nunukan regency started on November 25, 2020 and is targeted for completion on December 14, 2022. The construction cost of the Border Post is Rp 210.7 billion with a construction progress of 27.95 percent.
The Sei Pancang Border Post or commonly called Sei Nyamuk is located in North Sebatik district, Nunukan regency. This area can be accessed by speedboat from Tarakan city with a travel time of about three hours.
The construction of this Border Post started on February 24, 2020 with a progress of 82.1 percent and is targeted for completion on June 13, 2022. The Sei Pancang Border Post is built with a green infrastructure concept through landscape arrangement, planting trees and grass and a roof garden for high-rise buildings with a total construction budget of Rp 248.58 billion.
