The Government has announced it will temporarily stop recruitment of new civil servants this year.

According to Minister of State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reforms Tjahjo Kumolo, the decision was made due to the delay of the civil servant recruitment process last year following the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Government this year will focus on the selection process for last year’s candidates, the Minister added.

“The test and selection process will start in September-October 2020 by following strict health protocols. Ministry of State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reforms and the Civil Servant Agency (BKN) will continue to coordinate with the COVID-19 Task Force and Ministry of Health to ensure that the implementation of the test meet the health protocols,” Tjahjo said.

The Minister went on to explain that the recruitment of civil servant for 2021 would still be carried out. At present, he added, the process of submitting, verifying and validating the proposals from each government agency is underway.

“The process will consider the number of civil servant needed for national and regional governments, as well as the evaluation result of the pandemic,” Tjahjo said. (Public Relations Ministry of PANRB / EN)
