Gov’t Commits to Digital Learning and Massive School Renovation to Ensure Equal Access to Quality Education

President Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to accelerating the transformation of national education through digital learning as part of its efforts to develop high-caliber Indonesian human resources.

The Head of State conveyed this statement during a press conference held in conjunction with the Plenary Cabinet Meeting at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday (07/20).

“We recognize that our education system is still lagging in many respects. Our country is vast, with more than 288,000 schools, many of them in remote areas. One of our key efforts to address this is the digitalization of education,” the President said.

The Head of State also noted that Indonesia’s efforts to digitize education have received international recognition.

Indonesia recently earned the highest distinction from the United Nations, through the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), in the e-government and digitalization of education categories.

“This award from the UN demonstrates that our efforts to digitize education are being recognized globally. We are making a leap, my friends. We are not complacent. The road ahead is still long, but we are determined to improve all our schools. This year, we will complete renovations for 77,000 schools. Next year, our target is 100,000, and in 2028, another 100,000. By 2029, we hope that every school in Indonesia will have been renovated,” the Head of State added.

On that occasion, the President also explained that the Government had provided each school with one interactive flat panel, or smart screen, last year as part of the digital learning program. He added that the initiative will be expanded this year, with three additional units to be installed in every school.

“We have distributed interactive flat panels, or smart digital screens, to schools across Indonesia. Last year, we provided one unit to each school. This year, we will add three more units per school. I hope that by the end of 2026, around 700,000 additional smart panels will have been delivered to schools nationwide, with completion targeted by December 2026 or, at the latest, the first half of 2027,” the President said.

By accelerating the digitalization of learning and ensuring the equitable provision of educational infrastructure, the Government hopes that every Indonesian child, wherever they live, will have equal opportunities to access quality education as a cornerstone of a more advanced and competitive Indonesia.

“We have an app developed by Minister of Primary and Secondary Education called Rumah Pendidikan (Education House), an integrated portal linked to the interactive flat panels we have distributed, which has been used by more than 6.9 million users. It provides 4,843 free learning resources and supports hundreds of thousands of teachers in underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost regions,” the President concluded.

Through the acceleration of education digitalization and the equitable provision of school infrastructure, President Prabowo Subianto underscored the Government’s commitment to ensuring that every Indonesian child, wherever they live, has equal access to quality education as a foundation for a progressive, competitive, and equitable Indonesia.
