President Prabowo Subianto on Saturday (05/09) reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to pay closer attention to fishers throughout Indonesia.

In his remarks during a visit to Gorontalo province to inspect the Red and White Fishing Village (KNMP), the President lauded fishers for braving significant risks at seas to support their families and help meet the community’s food needs. The Head of State noted that fishing is a demanding profession since it is full of challenges and nature is unpredictable.

“I understand that fishers face enormous risks. The sea can be frightening. The weather can change at any moment, and the current can become dangerous. You dedicate yourselves to providing food for your families, community, and the people. For that, I am truly grateful,” he said.

President Prabowo went on to say that the Government is committed to improve fishers’ welfare and respect the profession, as their wellbeing has often been overlooked.

“Therefore, I am determined to improve the welfare of and honor our fishers throughout Indonesia. Fishers are often overlooked,” he stated.

On that occasion, President Prabowo also ensured the Government’s presence to its people by paying close attention to fishers and farmers in Indonesia. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (RAS/MMB)
