Gov’t Committed to Lower Stunting Rate in Indonesia
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and First Lady Ibu Iriana Jokowi Friday ()07/21) inspected stunting care at Sarimulyo Integrated Healthcare Center (posyandu) in Seluma regency, Bengkulu province.
In his press statement, President Jokowi said that that the Government would ensure to lower stunting rate in the regions.
“Today, on national children’s day, I came to Seluma regency, Bengkulu province to ensure that all of our children and toddlers are healthy and the stunting rate continues to lower every year. Although it cannot be completely eradicated, at least the rate is lowering,” President Jokowi said.
The President also expressed appreciation to Seluma regency that has successfully lowered the stunting rate up to 4 percent, adding that the routine check-up for babies and toddlers at the healthcare center is good to ensure their healthy grow.
“It is to ensure that all children are healthy, have bright future, and become excellent human resources,” he remarked.
In addition, President Jokowi explained that the Government has targeted to reduce the national stunting rate to 14 percent in 2024, and it will be supported by adequate budget.
