Gov’t Completes 11 National Strategic Projects Amid Pandemic
Committee for Acceleration of Priority Infrastructure Delivery (KPPIP) has completed 11 National Strategic Projects (PSN) worth Rp135.2 trillion during January to 4 December 2020 period.
“The completion proceeded according to the target adjusted at the beginning of the pandemic. In addition, the Government expressed optimism that it will be able to complete non-energy sector PSN in the third quarter of 2024,” Chief Executive of KPPIP Wahyu Utomo said, in Jakarta, Tuesday (08/12).
KPPIP, Wahyu said, monitored the progress of 201 projects and 10 PSN from January to 4 December 2020. The report showed that in addition to the fully-completed 11 projects, 24 projects were partially operational.
“KPPIP has also succeeded in pushing 6 projects through the preparation stage, including the Yogyakarta – Bawen Toll Road and the Addition of the Scope of the Solo – Yogyakarta – Kulon Progo Toll Road. This completion is a positive achievement for the Government amid the pandemic,” Wahyu said.
In early 2020, KPPIP which was mandated to evaluate PSN proposals had evaluated 269 project proposals from ministries, local governments, SOEs, private business entities as well as existing PSN in Presidential Regulation Number 56 of 2018 with basic, strategic, and operational criteria.
Based on these criteria, 201 projects and 10 programs covering 22 sectors with a total investment value of Rp4,817.7 trillion have been designated as the latest PSN list in Presidential Regulation 109/2020. PSN projects and programs include projects with funding sourced from the State Budget/Regional Budgets, SOEs, and/or private sector.
“The evaluation of the PSN list considered the previous PSN list as well as new proposals using basic criteria, strategic criteria, and operational criteria, and (criteria) of its role in supporting the center of economic activity,” Wahyu who also serves as Deputy of Regional Development and Spatial Planning Coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs stated.
In 2021, the Coordinating Ministry will continue to accelerate the provision of PSN to boost the economy through increased investment, employment, as well as industrial and tourism recovery.
For the record, the PSN List was first established through Presidential Regulation 3/2016 covering 225 projects and 1 program, and then revised in 2017 through Presidential Regulation 58/2017 to cover 245 projects and 2 programs.
This list was then re-revised in 2018 through Presidential Regulation 56/2018 to include 223 projects and 3 programs. From 2016 to 4 December 2020, a total of 103 projects worth Rp602.7 trillion have been successfully completed. (PR of Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs/UN) (FI/MUR)
