The Indonesian Government continues to improve welfare of the people, reduce poverty, increase equity, and improve economy of the people, according to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.

“We are building infrastructures throughout country, such as roads, bridges, ports, airports, electricity (facilities),” the President said in his remarks at Isra Mi’raj Celebration 1439 H at Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, Tuesday (10/4).

Isra Mi’raj is the ascension of Prophet Muhammad to Sidrat al-Muntaha, where the Prophet directly spoke with God, advising a spiritual regimen of five-times daily prayer.

In addition, the President added, the Government also provides skill training and business capital, including for Smallholder Business Credit (KUR) and micro endowment bank.

Nevertheless, President Jokowi went on to say the Government’s concern is not only limited to domestic issues but also issues regarding Indonesia’s friendly countries, the Muslim world, and humanitarian issues.

“We are also obliged to help and continue to support our brothers and sisters in Palestine through our active role in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). ” the President said, adding that Indonesia also helped to organize the OIC Extraordinary Summit in Istanbul in December 2017 to discuss Palestine issues.

For the record, President Jokowi in January 2018 also visited India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan and one of the agenda was visiting Rohingya refugees at Cox’s Bazar (Bangladesh).

“This is our commitment to humanitarian issues and to our fellow Muslims, as well as to free the world (from colonialism),” the President said.

On that occasion, President Jokowi expressed his belief and optimism that Indonesia and the Muslims around the world are able to reach higher level, to contribute to world peace, and to increase prosperity and welfare of the world.

“Every time we commemorate the ascension of Prophet Muhammad to Sidratunmuntaha – the highest level of heavenwe are encouraged to continue the struggle with a sincere heart, good intentions and clear minds,” the President concluded.

Attending in the event were Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto, Minister of Religious Affairs Lukman Hakim Saifuddin, Commander of the Indonesian National Defense Force (TNI) Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, and Ambassadors of friendly countries.
