Cases of land dispute that occur across the archipelago —whether between the people and private companies, the people and state-owned enterprises, or the people and the Government—must be immediately resolved, President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo has said.

“I want (those problems) to be resolved as soon as possible so that the people have legal certainty,” President Jokowi said in his remarks at the Limited Cabinet Meeting on the Acceleration of Settlement of Land Disputes at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, Friday (3/5).

According to the President, if there are villages located in either private or state-owned enterprises concession areas, the concession holder must provide the village community with legal certainty. “If the concession holder hinders the process, we will revoke their concession rights,” he added.

On that occasion, President Jokowi also stated that systematic steps in improving land policies and governance carried out by the National Land Agency (BPN) are already well implemented but still needs further improvements so that all land disputes that occur in every province can be resolved.

The President also authorized the implementation of one map policy because it can resolve the existing land disputes. He also ordered the BPN to continue the land certification for the people through the PTSL (Comprehensive Systemic Land Registration) program.

“I hope that in 2024-2025 all lands in the country are fully certified,” he said.  (DNA/RAH/ES)
