Gov’t Declares that 1 Syawal 1445H Falls on Wednesday, April 10, 2024
Government has determined that 1 Syawal 1445 Hijriah/2024 AD falls on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. This decision was based on the isbat session decision announced by Minister of Religious Affairs (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) office in Jakarta on Tuesday (09/04).
“Based on the calculation of the position of the hilal (new moon) in the Indonesian region, which already meets the criteria of MABIMS, and the sighting report of the hilal, it is agreed that 1st Syawal of the year 1445 Hijriah falls on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 AD,” said Yaqut in a press statement after the session.
The Minister of Religious Affairs conveyed that based on the presentation from the Kemenag’s Hisab Rukyat Team, the position of the hilal already meets the criteria of imkanur rukyat MABIMS (Minister of Religious Affairs of Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore), which requires a minimum hilal altitude of 3 degrees and a minimum elongation angle of 6.4 degrees.
“The data of the hilal’s position today that has been conveyed throughout Indonesia, is at an altitude ranging from 4 degrees 52.71 minutes to 7 degrees 37.84 minutes, and the elongation angle ranges from 8 degrees 23.68 minutes to 10 degrees 12.94 minutes,” he explained.
Yaqut also hoped that with this isbat result, all Muslims in Indonesia could celebrate Eid al Fitr together with joy.
“Hopefully, this decision is a manifestation of the unity of Muslims throughout Indonesia, both in observing the religion and in deliberating, consulting, and living together in the same homeland,” he concluded. (UN) (AS/LW)
