The Government is currently developing integrated transportation system, including LRT, MRT and elevated railway, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has said.

“The cost is high but we don’t have any other options,” the President told the journalist after inaugurating Bakauheni-Terbanggi Besar Toll Road in Lampung Friday (8/3).

On that occasion, President Jokowi also talked about his experience using commuter train from Tanjung Barat Station to Bogor Station. He said that the train was very crowded that the passengers could not even move. The President said that many passengers asked him to provide more trains. The problem, according to him, is that more trains will affect level crossing and traffic.

President Jokowi went on to say that as a metropolitan, Jakarta needs elevated railway and integrated public transportation systems. “That is why we are building LRT and MRT because the city needs (the public transportation system),” the President added. (DNA/DNS/ES)
