The Government has announced that it has disbursed the 2021 wage subsidy assistance (BSU) to 2.1 million recipients.

“Those who have received the assistance are those who have a bank account at state-owned banks. Next, new bank accounts will be opened for workers who haven’t had an account [at state-owned banks] yet,” Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah said.

In order to speed up the disbursement, Ida added, the assistance will be transferred by state-owned banks. Therefore, workers who do not have a bank account but are eligible to receive the assistance will be collectively registered.

Furthermore, the database of this year’s prospective recipients will also be matched with the database of other social assistance recipients including the Family Hope Program (PKH), Pre-Employment Card (Kartu Prakerja), and Productive Presidential Assistance for Micro Enterprises (BPUM) in order to avoid data error in distributing the assistance.

“The Government’s assistance aims to target more people affected by COVID-19 pandemic,” she remarked. (PR of Ministry of Manpower/UN) (AP/MBB)
