The Government has disbursed wage subsidy to 12,166,471 workers (98.09 percent of the targeted beneficiaries), Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah has said.

The data from Ministry of Manpower, as of 19 October 2020, shows that wage subsidy has been distributed to 2,485,687 beneficiaries (99.43 percent) in the first stage, 2,981,531 beneficiaries (99.38 percent) in the second stage, 3,476,120 beneficiaries (99.32 percent) in the third stage, 2,620,665 beneficiaries (94.09 percent) in the fourth stage and 602,468 beneficiaries (97.39 percent) in the fifth stage.

Ida said that wage subsidy is distributed in two payment terms. After the disbursement of the first term has been completed, Ministry of Manpower will process the payment for the second term.

“The second term disbursement is expected to be distributed in early November after the evaluation process for the first term is completed,” Ida said in a written press release on Tuesday (20/10).

The Minister said that the Government provides Rp 37.7 trillion for wage subsidy for 15.7 million workers registered as the participants of the Social Security Agency for Employment (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan). However, until the deadline for data submission, The BPJS Ketenagakerjaan has only provided list of 12.4 million workers.

“The remaining budget will be submitted to the State Treasurer. The plan is that it will be distributed as wage subsidy for contract teachers and educators in Ministry of Education and Culture as well as in Ministry of Religious Affairs,” she said.

The Minister went on to say that approximately 150,000 beneficiaries have not received the wage subsidy because of several factors, including invalid bank accounts or invalid identity numbers. She further said that Ministry of Manpower returns the data to the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan and the BPJS informs the beneficiaries to correct the data. (PR of Ministry of Manpower/UN)
