The Indonesian Government has distributed 1,305,800 personal protective equipment (PPE) to hospitals across the country as of Sunday (26/4), Head of COVID-19 Handling Task Force Doni Monardo has said.

According to Head of COVID-19 Handling Task Force Doni Monardo, the Government has also received as many as 479,000 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) reagents from South Korea and China thanks to assistance from Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Indonesian Embassy in South Korea and the People’s Republic of China.

“The first phase of the reagent that we have received will be distributed to provinces in Java Island starting last Saturday and Sunday,” Doni said on Monday (27/4).

On that occasion, he once again reminded the public to always follow health protocol, particularly the physical distancing order, in a bid to contain the spread of the virus.

The communities and the public, Doni continued, also share similar responsibility to protect each other from the COVID-19 threat as it is impossible for the Government to work hard alone without support from the society.

“Thus, I invite all community leaders, religious leaders, cultural leaders, to pay great attention (to the health protocol) for the safety of the community. Do not underestimate this pandemic,” Doni said. (FID/EN)
