The gathering of Indonesian Village Administrators to be held on 30 March at Bung Karno Main Stadium is not initiated by the Government, according to General Secretary of Ministry of Home Affairs Hadi Prabowo.

“(The plan) is initiated by the National Coordinating Agency for Community Empowerment and Development as well as several associations of village heads and village administrators,” Hadi said in a press conference held in Jakarta, Tuesday (19/3).

Hadi went on to say that Ministry of Home Affairs praised the associations for the initiative.

“We appreciate the initiative for organizing the event. However, (the organizer) needs to pay attention to budget allocation as well as security during the event,” Hadi explained.

He further said that Ministry of Home Affairs and Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs would inform the President about the planned event. “As of today, the event has not been listed in the President’s schedule,” Hadi said.

In the meantime, Deputy for national Political Affairs of Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wawan Kustiawan said that the Coordinating Ministry does not provide any direction or suggestion regarding financial matters of the event. “We support the initiative for the event but we have to deny the rumor saying that we provide direction on financial matters of the event,” Wawan said. (Puspen Kemendagri/ES)
