The Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) has given an Unqualified Opinion (WTP) audit rating –  the highest audit grade – for the 2020 Central Government Financial Report (LKPP).

“Praise be to God, we got an Unqualified Opinion audit rating. It is an achievement amid a tough situation. The Government has earned unqualified opinion for five times in a row since 2016,” President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo said during the Submission of Audit Report for the 2020 Central Government Financial Report at the State Palace, Friday (25/06).

According to the President, amid the challenging situation, the Government remains committed to maintaining and improving the quality of its financial report, adding that  the unqualified opinion is not the one and only goal of measures taken by the Government to improve State Budget management.

“We should also make the best of taxpayers’ money and manage it in a fair and accountable manner. The quality of spending should be better and more targeted. We must ensure that every penny spent benefit the communities and the people,” he added.

The Government, according to the President will also pay close attention to the recommendations given by the BPK in managing the State Budget.

“The budget deficit is financed by utilizing safe financing sources and should be implemented in a responsive manner to support countercyclical policies and speed up socio-economic recovery. It should be managed in a prudent, credible and measurable manner,” the President stated.

The President also praised the BPK for reviewing the 2020 LKPP in a timely manner amid various activity and mobility restrictions during the pandemic.

“I order the ministers, heads of institutions, and regional governments to follow up on the recommendations from the BPK,” the President said.

In the meantime, Chairperson of the BPK Agung Firman Sampurna said that the BPK had reviewed Financial Reports from 86 ministries / agencies and State General Treasurer (LKBUN), 84 of which received Unqualified Opinions (WTP) and two of which received qualified opinion (WDP). (TGH/UN) (RI/EP)
