The Government is committed to encourage development that based on Indonesia-centric principle. In parallel with that, investment equity must also be put forward.

“After I was inaugurated to hold the office, Bapak President told me to develop Indonesia, not to develop Indonesia in a certain area, but the development must be Indonesia-centric, so we make development from Aceh to Papua,” Minister of Investment/Chairman of Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia said, on Wednesday (06/08), in the Integrated Industrial Region of Batang regency, Central Java.

Minister of Investment elaborated that the investment target is amounted to Rp 1,200 trillion in 2022, and at the first quarter of the year, the realization was approximately Rp 283 trillion.

“Fifty two percent is realized outside Java island, and 48 percent is realized in Java island,” Bahlil added.

Bahlil also emphasized that foreign investment  in Indonesia does not come only from one country.

“Singapore still ranked at the first [biggest] investor, the second one is Hongkong, the third one is China, the fifth one is the USA, and the seventh one is South Korea. So, it is not true that investment made in the Republic of Indonesia is only from a certain country as informed in social media,” he said.

The provinces with the largest realization of foreign direct investment are Riau, West Java, Jakarta, Central Sulawesi, and North Maluku.

“So, that is [about] the foreign direct investment coming to Indonesia, it is balanced. At the first quarter of the year, the job opportunities available were more than 360 thousand and the projects conducted were more than 66 thousand,” he affirmed. (FID/UN) (AW/LW)
