The Indonesian Government, based on President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s instruction, has evacuated 188 Indonesian citizens working as crew members aboard the World Dream cruise ship on Dr. Soeharso naval hospital ship on the waters of Durian Bay, Wednesday (26/2).

“Considering speed of the ship, Dr. Soeharso naval hospital ship will arrive at the meeting point for rendezvous with World Dream cruise ship at around 12 a.m. Western Indonesian Time,” Presidential Spokesperson M. Fadjroel Rahman said in an release.

The transshipping will take a couple of hours. After the evacuation, the evacuees will be brought to Sebaru Island, in Thousand Islands Regency in Jakarta to be put under quarantine and observation.

“The observation will be carried out for at least 14 days and is under the supervision of Ministry of Health in accordance with the World Health Organization (WHO)’s protocols,” he said.

He also emphasized that these crew members and Indonesian citizens evacuated from Hubei Province received equal treatment.

“The Government left no one behind. That is the decision made by President Joko Widodo,” Rahman concluded. (EN)
