The Government continues to expand the use of PeduliLindungi application as part of its measures to control COVID-19 transmission.

“For areas outside Java, we are carrying out trial for PeduliLindungi application in regenciesn / cities that have administered 50 percent of the total first dose vaccine, namely Banda Aceh (58.47 percent), Jambi (65 percent), Kupang (61 percent), Palangka Raya (58 percent), and Batam 83 (percent),” Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said, Monday (09/06).

In the meantime, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said that PeduliLindungi application is the main integrator of the Government’s three strategies in controlling the pandemic and reducing COVID-19 transmission.

“The three strategies are swiftly increasing vaccination coverage for all Indonesian people, good testing-tracing-treatment measures, and maintaining discipline in observing health protocols,” Luhut said, adding that the Government is committed to protecting the data used in PeduliLindungi application and will continue to improve the app.

As of September 5, he added, the number of users using PeduliLindungi in public areas such as shopping centers, industry, and sports facilities reached nearly 21 million.

“Of the total 21 million users, 761,000 are in the red category and are not allowed to access public places,” Luhut said.

The Minister also said that the Government will send the people in black category who carry out activities in public areas to a centralized isolation center to prevent new clusters (of COVID-19).

“The Government will take persuasive measures in enforcing the regulations before taking stricter measures if the persuasive measures are ignored,” Luhut remarked. (DND/FID/UN) (RI/EP)
