President Jokowi, accompanied by Vice President Jusuf Kalla and heads of state institutions, giving a press conference at State Palace, Jakarta (19/1)

A consultative meeting between the Government led by President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo and heads of state institutions at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday (19/1) discussed 6 major issues, among others prevention of terrorism, the ASEAN Economic Community, simultaneous regional elections, measures to resolve past human rights abuses so as not to make them ‘burdens of history’, amnesty for political movements both in Aceh and Papua, and guidelines for long-term development.

“Alhamdulillah, all heads of institutions welcome those six major issues and we all are committed to addressing them immediately,” President Jokowi said in a press conference after the meeting.

Asked about the revision of Law Number 15 of 2013 on the stipulation of the Government Regulation in lieu of Law Number 1 of 2002 on the Eradication of Terrorism Crimes, the President said the discussion of the revision plan is still at an early stage.

“In all state institutions, there are processes (to revise the law). In another meeting, we probably can reach a decision,” President Jokowi said.

Also attending the press conference were Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Ade Komarudin, Speaker of the Regional Representatives Council (DPR) Irman Gusman, Chief of the Constitutional Court (MK) Arief Hidayat, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, and Presidential Spokesperson Johan Budi SP. (FID/ES) (EP/YM/Naster)
