As part of its economic policy package, the government has launched an internship program targeting recent university graduates across Indonesia. This initiative aims to promote the creation of productive employment opportunities in various sectors.

“The government is providing support through a university graduate internship program. The goal is to offer work experience to fresh graduates, whether in business, industry, state-owned enterprises, as well as in government institutions and Bank Indonesia,” said Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, during a press conference at Cikini Post Office, Jakarta, on Friday (10/17).

The Minister explained that the first phase of the internship program involves 20,000 participants, who will start work on October 20, 2025. In November, the government will open a second wave, significantly increasing the number of participants.

“The first batch consists of 20,000 interns and has already been launched. They’ll begin work on October 20. The next batch will open next month and increase to 80,000 internship participants,” he added.

Each intern will receive a monthly allowance based on regional standards, along with unemployment insurance and death coverage. According to Airlangga, 1,666 companies have so far prepared job positions for candidates in the program.

“There are 26,181 internship vacancies available, with 156,159 applicants. The process is still ongoing. Today, several participating companies and university representatives are present, including those from University of Indonesia (UI), State University of Jakarta (UNJ), Pancasila University, and other public universities,” he concluded.
