President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo meets and distributes basic commodities to residents of Serang, Banten, on Thursday (30/6)

The Government is ready to anticipate this year’s mudik (an annual exodus ahead of Eid al-Fitr). According to the report, everything is now ready, we will only wait to see the implementation on the ground, President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo said.

Based on the Government’s calculations, roads connecting Brebes and Tegal in Central Java, are predicted to be the most-congested roads in this year’s flow of mudik.

The statement were made by the President after distributing basic commodities to residents of Kebanyakan Village, Serang, Banten, on Thursday (30/6).

Previously, the President has instructed Minister of Transportation Ignasius Jonan to be ready to anticipate the flow of mudik during Eid al-Fitr this year.

President Jokowi gave two instructions to the Minister, among others, to eliminate traffic congestion and to improve the safety of travelers during mudik and returning waves.

“This is a tough job,” Jonan said when leading a roll call ahead of the Lebaran operations at his office recently.

On that occasion, Jonan also urged the authorities to take firm action against those who perform any traffic violations, particularly the one that endangers the safety of other travelers. (*/ANT/ES) (RAS/ YM/Naster)
