Gov’t Issues Commemorative Rp 75,000 Bill To Celebrate 75th Independence Day
As part of the commemoration of the 75th independence of the Republic of Indonesia, central bank Bank of Indonesia (BI) and Ministry of Finance have issued a commemorative Rp75,000 bill.
BI Governor Perry Warjiyo and Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati inaugurated the issuance of the bill virtually on Monday (17/8).
“The issuance of the banknote involved coordination between various parties, including Bank Indonesia, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Social Affairs, Ministry of State Secretary, and the heirs of national heroes. The preparation also has been made since 2018,” Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani said in a statement.
The Minister added that the commemorative banknote was not intended for free circulation and will not be widely available for the public, nor as an additional liquidity for financing needs or for carrying out economic activities.
“The special bill was launched to commemorate a special event or a special purpose only. In this case, it is the 75th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia,” she added.
This special bill is printed for 75 million copies, signed by Minister of Finance as the representative of the government and Governor of Bank Indonesia.
“This is a momentum for all of us to be grateful for the independence of the Republic of Indonesia even though we are currently facing the COVID-19 outbreak. We also hope the 75th independence of the Republic of Indonesia can strengthen our commitment in maintaining the diversity and unity of the Republic of Indonesia. We also hope this move can boost and deepen our enthusiasm in reaching our goals,” the Minister said. (Ministry of Finance / EN)
