President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on June 17, 2022 signed Presidential Regulation Number 95 of 2022 on the 2022 ASEAN Para Games.

The Regulation, which can be accessed on the JDIH website of Cabinet Secretariat, was issued as a follow-up after Indonesia was elected as the host of the 2022 ASEAN Para Games by the Board of Governors Meeting of the ASEAN Para Sports Federation on February 16, 2022.

“The implementation of the 2022 ASEAN Para Games aims to achieve success in organizing, providing infrastructure and facilities, sport achievement, and impact on economic recovery,” the Presidential Regulation reads.

The Para Games event is planned to be held from July 30 to August 6, 2022 in Surakarta city, Semarang city, Karanganyar regency, and Sukoharjo regency, Central Java province.

This Presidential Decree stipulates the formation of the Indonesia ASEAN Para Games Organizing Committee (INASPOC) to lead the implementation of the 2022 ASEAN Para Games. The National Committee is based in Surakarta city, Central Java province.

The tasks of the INASPOC are to prepare and determine the implementation master plan; draw up and prepare work plans and budgets for implementation; and prepare and organize the 2022 ASEAN Para Games so that it achieves the goals.

“In carrying out the tasks, the INASPOC may involve, cooperate, and/or coordinate with ministries/agencies, regional governments, and/or other relevant stakeholders in accordance with their respective duties, functions and authorities,” the Presidential Regulation states.

The INASPOC consists of two organs, namely the Steering Committee chaired by Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture and the Organizing Committee chaired by Minister of Youth and Sports, while Chairperson of the Indonesian National Paralympic Committee (NPC) is appointed as Vice Chairperson of the Organizing Committee. In carrying out its duties, the INASPOC reports to the President.

In the meantime, to assist the task of the INASPOC, Chairperson of the Organizing Committee assigned NPC Indonesia to organize the 2022 ASEAN Para Games.

“The General Chairperson of the Indonesian NPC shall appoint INASPOC organizer, infrastructure and facilities organizer, and sports achievement task force,” the Presidential Regulation reads.

The Presidential Regulation came into force since its promulgation on June 17, 2022. (AIT/UN) (RI/MMB)
