The Government has warned the public that the rallies against Job Creation Law may create new clusters of COVID-19 transmission.

“The President has ordered the Cabinet to constantly remind the public that the pandemic is still here so the rallies should not become new COVID-19 clusters,” said Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto on Monday (12/10).

Airlangga has also urged the public to continue maintaining discipline in implementing the health protocols.

“Let’s continue to maintain physical distancing, wearing a face mask, and washing hands frequently. And once again, rallies should not become a new pandemic cluster,” said Airlangga.

Meanwhile, Head of the COVID-19 Handling Task Force Doni Monardo also expressed concern about people who are still ignorant about instruction to avoid crowds.

“Unlike swine flu and bird flu, COVID-19 is not transmitted by animals but by humans and it is transmitted by people close to us such as families, colleagues, and people closest to us, especially when we are in public places,” said Doni.

Doni also appealed to all parties to provide maximum protection to all components of the society to prevent the surge in COVID-19 cases.

“When a young person is infected and is physically healthy, it may not affect their physical condition and health directly; however it can harm the safety of other people at home, especially those who suffer from comorbidities,” said Doni. (DND / TGH / MAY / UN)
