Gov’t Opens Online Registration of Pre-employment Card Batch I

The Government opens the first batch of online registration of Pre-employment Card program on the website www.prakerja.go.id.

“Pre-employment Card program will provide cash for job trainings and incentives for job seekers, workers and Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises business players who lost their jobs and/or whose purchasing power has decreased as the impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic,” Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said in a release on Saturday (11/4).

The Coordinating Minister went on to say that the Pre-employment Card is expected to improve competency, productivity, and competitiveness of workers as well as ease their burden during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Requirements for the Pre-employment Card program are, Indonesian citizens aged over 18 who are not attending formal education,” he added.

The online registration, he added, consists of three steps:

First, prospective beneficiaries or registrants create personal account on the website www.prakerja.go.id. They then input personal information, such as name, place/date of birth, ID card number, and others. Their data will be verified by related ministries/institutions.

Second, registrants will take motivation and basic skill tests for 15 minutes.

Third, the registrants are registered in the current batch.

“The registration will be opened each week, as of today (11/4) until the fourth week of November 2020, for a total quota of 164,000 people,” Airlangga said adding that the registration is open for 24/7, as for the first batch it will be closed on Thursday (16/4) at 4 p.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB).

Those passing the first batch will be announced on Friday 17 April 2020. As for those who have not passed, they can register in the next batch.

“By the end of 2020, there will be more than 30 batches. The Government has allocated Rp20 trillion for this program this year,” he said.

On that occasion, the Coordinating Minister also said that Regional Governments through manpower unit, industry and trade unit, tourism unit, cooperatives and SMEs unit will assist the registration by providing a place that is equipped with computers.

The beneficiaries of Pre-employment Card program will receive acceptance notice via email and/or SMS. Unlike the name, Pre-employment Card is not a physical card, but a 16-digit unique code to be used as a payment method for the job trainings.

During the pandemic, the beneficiaries can only take online trainings in several digital platforms partners, namely Tokopedia, Skill Academy by Ruangguru, MauBelajarApa, Bukalapak, Pintaria, Sekolahmu, Pijarmahir, and Sisnaker. Meanwhile in normal condition, they will also have face-to-face (offline) trainings.

Each beneficiary is only allowed to take the program once in which they will receive, in total, Rp3,550,000, consisting of:

One, Rp1 million for job trainings that can be used to pay for trainings in digital platforms partners.

Two, incentives which will be transferred to beneficiaries’ bank account or e-wallet such as LinkAja, Ovo or GoPay. The incentives consist of two parts:

  1. Rp600 thousands per month (for 4 months) for post-trainings incentive.
  2. Rp150 thousands for working survey incentive (Rp50 thousands per one survey).

According to the Coordinating Minister, the participants must complete one training before taking the other. The cash incentives will be void if they are not using it to pay for job trainings within 30 days after they have been chosen as the beneficiaries of Pre-employment Card program.

“After spending the money for the first training, the remaining cash for job training can be spent to purchase training module until 30 December 2020,” he concluded. (Public Relations Division of Coordinating Ministry of Economic Affairs/SM/EN)
