Gov’t Prepares 143 Electric Vehicles for G20 Summit

PT Toyota-Astra Motor Wednesday (10/19) handed over electrified vehicles with battery electric vehicle (BEV) technology for the G20 Summit to be held in Bali in November to the Government through Ministry of State Secretary.

“On behalf of the Indonesian Government, I would like to thank PT Toyota-Astra Motor for the contribution of lending 143 units of electric vehicles to support the convening of the G20 Summit in November,” said Minister of State Secretary Pratikno.

A total of 143 units of electrified vehicles with BEV technology consists of of 41 units of Toyota BZ4X and 102 units of Lexus UX 300e.

Praktino added that Indonesia’s presidency in the G20 is a momentum to strengthen and demonstrate the country’s commitment to climate change and sustainable energy.

“The momentum of the G20 presidency is crucial for Indonesia as the first developing country to assume the presidency. This is a realization of Indonesia’s commitment to tackling climate change, measures towards sustainable energy, and managing energy transition to net zero emission that become our target in 2060,” he said.

Pratikno also expressed appreciation for the support that has been given by PT Toyota Astra Motor for the G20 Summit in Indonesia.

“I thank to Toyota for the support,” he said.

Meanwhile, Vice President of PT Toyota Astra Motor Henry Tanoto expressed appreciation for the trust given by the Government to the company’s products to become the official vehicle for the G20 Summit.

“We appreciate the Government’s trust to Toyota’s products that were chosen as the official vehicles for the G20 Summit,” said Henry.

For the record, on February 9, 2022 PT Toyota Astra-Motor and the Ministry of State Secretariat signed a cooperation agreement related to the preparation of 41 units of Toyota BZ4X to be used for ministerial vehicle, 82 units of Lexus UX300e for delegate vehicle, and 20 units of Lexus UX300e for national committee vehicle.

Not only supporting the smooth mobility of the conference participants, Henry Tanoto also expressed hope that the presence of the Toyota BZ4X and Lexus UX 300e will also be the symbol of Indonesia’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions towards the era of carbon neutrality in 2060.

In this series of events, a test drive has been also conducted around the parking lot of Senayan for a few minutes by Minister of State Secretary together with the Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia Kanasugi Kenji, Vice President of PT Toyota Astra Motor Henry Pranoto, and Directors of PT Toyota-Astra Motor.
